Cheesy Guacamole

Guacamole is one of those dips that’s probably the most popular dip in the world. I know at my house we make it often because everyone absolutely loves it.

This recipe is my favorite for guacamole because it has cheese in it and in my book anytime you add cheese to anything, it will be delicious. While this may not be an authentic version, and trust me I don’t claim it to be, it is my version and I absolutely love it.

  • Guacamole Is SO Easy To Make
  • Takes 10 Minutes Total
  • Uses Simple, Fresh Ingredients
  • Always A Crowd Pleaser

The great thing about guacamole is that it’s super quick to put together and it’s the ideal appetizer to make for when you’re in a rush. In less than 10 minutes you can have a delicious dip that is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser.

Ingredient Notes

  • Avocados – Ripe, seeded and roughly chopped.
  • Lime Juice – I prefer freshly squeezed.
  • Tomatoes – Medium tomatoes, diced.
  • Jalapeno Pepper – Seeded and finely diced.
  • Onion – Red onion, finely diced.
  • Cilantro – Fresh, chopped
  • Cheese – Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Seasoning – Salt & pepper, to taste.

How To Make Cheesy Guacamole

  1. Mash Avocado: Add the chopped avocados to a medium size bowl and drizzle the lime juice over it. Lightly mash using a fork.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well. Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.
  3. Serve: Chill until ready to serve. Serve with crackers, tortilla chips or pita chips.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What else can I add to my guac?

This recipe is great because you can toss in a couple extra additions to level up your homemade guacamole! Black Beans, garlic, corn, olives, red pepper flakes, green onions, or hot peppers are all excellent options.

How do you serve guacamole?

I love to serve this with the classics: tortilla chips and pita chips, but I also love to serve it with crostini! Cut up a French baguette, lightly drizzle some olive oil over the slices, then season with salt and pepper. I put them on a baking sheet and under the broiler for about a minute per side, trust me when I say you might like this better than tortilla chips.

Can I make guacamole in advance?

Guacamole should be made just before serving because the avocados will start to brown after about half hour, even if lime is added to it! If you absolutely NEED to make your guacamole a couple hours ahead, transfer it to an airtight container and place plastic directly on it, covering the guacamole. Close the lid and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.

Some Great Tips

  1. I highly recommend using the freshest ingredients possible when making guacamole! It enhances the flavors that much more.
  2. You can use your favorite cheese for this recipe! It doesn’t have to be cheddar.
  3. Feel free to add your favorite seasonings/spices. Everyone has different tastes, so make sure to season to your liking.

Storing Leftovers

Store leftover guacamole in an airtight container and place plastic wrap directly on it, covering the guacamole. Stored properly, it will last in the fridge for up to 2 days.
