This Garlic Bread is the best and so easy to make. A crispy baguette slathered in a tasty homemade garlic butter, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, a must in my opinion, then toasted to perfection, makes this for a truly incredible Garlic Bread experience!

Garlic Bread

Everyone’s favorite Garlic Bread seems more like a restaurant perk, until you try my delicious recipe right here! The key ingredient is my Homemade Garlic Butter that you can whip up in less than 5 minutes. Add that to a crispy French Baguette, top it with some Parmesan cheese and I guarantee you will never buy a pre-made garlic bread in your life!

I’m a huge fan of garlic bread and I will be honest, I have bought them already prepared from the grocery store before. However, as I always say, homemade is best, and it really is in this case. This way you can ensure that you have the perfect ratio of garlic butter to bread, just as you like. You like more butter, go for it, or less, it’s all up to you! My favorite part though, is the Parmesan cheese. While it’s optional, I encourage you to give it a try!

Ingredient Notes

overhead shot of the ingredients needed to make garlic bread.
  • Bread – I recommend a fresh French baguette, but you can also use a crispy Italian loaf.
  • Butter – I prefer to whip up my own Homemade Garlic Butter, because it’s easy and fresh.
  • Parmesan Cheese – While this ingredient is optional, I encourage you to give it a try with the cheese. Especially if you love Parmesan as much as me!

How to Make Garlic Bread

detailed process shots showing how to make garlic bread.
  1. Prep the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Prepare the bread with butter and cheese: Spread the butter evenly over each side of the bread, use as much butter as you like, but use at least ¼ cup on each side. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese over each half of bread.
  3. Bake: Place the bread on a baking pan and transfer to the oven. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around the edges and toasted.
  4. Serve: Cut into slices and serve.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I skip the cheese?

You can definitely skip adding the grated parmesan, but do you really want to? The combination of the garlic butter and grated parmesan makes the Garlic Bread really stand out.

Do I need to make my own garlic butter?

No, store bought garlic butter will work as well, but it’s so easy to make your own.

How can I enhance my bread experience?

You can add different seasoned toppings over your garlic butter and parmesan such as Basil or Pesto, Seasoning Salt or Red Pepper Flakes.

Expert Tips

  1. Slice the bread right after you take it out of the oven so it can cut nicely and have the edges of each slice covered with melted cheese.
  2. Make the garlic butter ahead of time and store it in an airtight glass container and in the fridge for easy access and convenient use.

Leftovers

Baked garlic bread doesn’t store well in the fridge, it’s best to serve and consume it right after you take it out of the oven.

Freeze

If you’d like to make garlic bread ahead of time, you could prep the garlic bread up to the baking stage, wrap in plastic foil and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
