In this recipe, I’ll walk you through the process of creating a healthier version of such a delicious dish! My favorite thing about this recipe is that you don’t need to submerge your wings in hot greasy oil to get that delicious crispy texture. With just a drizzle of oil and tasty spices you get the best chicken wings you could ever dream of!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings

  • Easy 10 Min Prep Time
  • Simple Ingredients
  • Ready in 30 Minutes

The fact that it doesn’t take long to make them and the instructions are so easy is definitely a perk! This Air Fryer Chicken Wings recipe works beautifully resulting in dry crispy wings, or if you’d like, you can toss them in some sauce or for dipping at the end, making this recipe very versatile. A definite family favorite!

Ingredient Notes

  • Chicken wings – Make sure to have the split and ends removed.
  • Vegetable oil – Olive oil, avocado oil or sunflower oil work well to drizzle over your wings since they are oils resistant to high-temp.
  • Seasoning – Garlic powder with salt and pepper are great for cooking the wings, but you can add any type of seasoning after they are cooked.

FAQ’s and Expert Tips

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen wings?

Definitely! The only trouble you may run into is if the wings are frozen together and form a block, they may be difficult to fit into the fryer basket and cook well. Oil and season the frozen wings and place them in the basket and cook for about 25 minutes, flipping half way through. If they are frozen in a block when placing them in the air fryer, after about 5 minutes, open the air fryer and break them apart. Finish cooking as instructed.

What Can I Toss My Wings With?

Time to get creative!! I like to serve wing with just salt and pepper, and an array of sauces and seasonings that people can choose from to customize their own serving of wings. Try BBQ sauce or Buffalo sauce, to name a few favorites.

Can I bake them in the oven instead?

Of course you can! Chicken wings take about 40 minutes to bake until they’re nice and crispy at 425 F degrees. However, each oven is different, so start looking in on them after 30 minutes.

Expert Tips

  1. If you have frozen chicken wings and want to thaw them out, you can either leave them in the fridge overnight to slowly thaw before cooking, or you can add room temperature water to a bowl and submerge your wings to help them thaw faster.
  2. Make sure to fully cover the wings with seasoning in order to get the optimal flavor after cooking them.
  3. If your wings don’t come pre-cut into wings and mini drumsticks, make sure to remove the wing tip, then cut them vertically through the joint. Discard the wing tip.

Leftovers

Fridge

Store leftovers in an airtight container and they will last 4 days in the fridge. You can use one of two methods to reheat your wings and keep them crisp:

  1. Oven: Preheat your oven to 350F and make for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
  2. Air fryer: Yes that’s right, your air fryer can reheat as well! Add the wings to your air fryer and cook at 350F for 5 minutes. Increase the temperature to 400F and cook for another 5 minutes, or until heated through.

Keep in mind that once reheated, if the wings were covered in sauce, this will evaporate slightly, but your wings will still taste amazing!

Freezer

To prevent your wings from freezing together, place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and cover them with plastic wrap. Freeze them for 1 hour, then transfer them to a large freezer bag or airtight container. They will last 6 months frozen.
