Oven Baked Beef Brisket

Is there anything quite like a perfectly cooked, moist beef brisket? I can honestly say that the answer is no. Not only does it pack so much scrumpcious flavor, but it’s so versatile in all the fun you can have adding it to sandwiches, tacos, and breakfasts. This Oven Baked Beef Brisket will not only scintillate your taste buds, but it’ll make you feel like a total pro.

Baking Beef Brisket

Sometimes big pieces of meat baked in the oven can dry out, I have ensured that this recipe and all the techniques you’ll use to prepare it will ensure a juicy cut of meat by the time it is ready to cut into. This cut of meat is a big commitment in terms of fridge space, so lets be sure we make it as stellar as possible. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get this brisket happening!

Ingredients In Oven Baked Beef Brisket

Detailed measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  • Beef – This cut of meat comes from the chest and is typically not super well marbled. It cooks well low and slow to develop tenderness and moisture.
  • Spices – Just some onion powder and garlic powder are all we need today for this cut!
  • Seasoning – Salt and pepper.
Sauce

Our sauce ingredients that we will slather our cut in are pretty basic and simple! Guaranteed to be hiding somewhere in your kitchen.

  • Sauces – Worcestershire, ketchup, and hot sauce will add some heat and complexity to our sauce.
  • Sugar – Brown sugar is perfect for recipes like these with big cuts of meat. That molasses flavor develops and deepens the complexity of the mix.
  • Whiskey – No need to bring out the good stuff, just 1/4 of a cup of any will. The vanilla notes in the whiskey lend itself so well to the rest of the flavors in our dish.

How To Make Oven Baked Beef Brisket

Detailed measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  • Prepare the meat: Prepare the meat: Place your brisket fat side down in a 13 X 9.5 inch baking dish. In a small bowl whisk together your dry ingredients, plus the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce and pour over the brisket then rub it all over. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Bake the brisket: Preheat your oven to 300 F degrees. Remove your brisket from the fridge, cover it with foil and bake covered for 4 hours. Meanwhile, combine your sauce ingredients together. After 4 hours, uncover the brisket and brush the sauce all over the brisket. Transfer the brisket back tot he one and bake further for another 30 minutes uncovered. Remove the brisket from the oven and transfer it to a cutting board. Cover it with aluminum foil and let it rest for a good 15 minutes. This will ensure the juices stay in and your brisket doesn’t dry out. Finally, slice up and serve.

Tips For Making The Best Beef Brisket

  • Allow your brisket to rest! If you cut into it too soon your juices will run and you may be left with a dry cut of meat
  • Cut your brisket diagonally against the grain into thin slices to ensure it stays tender and moist.
  • A meat thermometer is a great way to ensure your beef is at the perfect temperature before removing. You will want to place your thermometer before putting your cut in the oven. The internal temperature should reach 165 – 170 degrees internally.

How To Serve Oven Baked Beef Brisket

There’s so much you can do with beef brisket! You can serve it alongside:

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Coleslaw
  • Roasted Veggies

Or you can transform it into some truly scrumptious dishes like:

  • Tacos
  • Gyros
  • Any kind of sandwich you’d like!

Storing Leftover Oven Baked Beef Brisket

Store well in a shallow airtight container in the fridge and it will last for up to 3 – 4 days. Beef brisket also stores well in the freezer! Just wrap in plastic wrap and aluminum foil and it will keep for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw in the fridge overnight and then gently bring up to temperature in the oven.
