Now I showcase a lot of big, bold, and brash recipes on this site and on Jo Cooks, but sometimes it’s important to master the basics. Now don’t under estimate the simple green bean! We’re going to prove today that it is a delicious, nutritious, and stellar side all on it’s own.

What better way to showcase this mighty bean than by high lighting it’s great natural flavor than with some bright lemon, super aromatic garlic, and a bit of perfect seasoning. We’re not getting fancy with it today – just adding an essential side to our repertoire!

Ingredients

  • Beans – Fresh green beans with the ends trimmed but other wise keep them whole!
  • Olive oil – A few glugs of the nice stuff to roast these veggies down nicely.
  • Lemon – Juice and zest – both fresh! Fresh is vital so be sure to pick up some up and give them a good wash before incorporating.
  • Garlic – We’re using garlic powder today – no need to get fancy with it! It’s also good to use powder to ensure your garlic doesn’t burn.
  • Seasoning – Salt and pepper.

How To Make Roasted Green Beans

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss the beans with the rest of the ingredients right on the baking sheet and use your hands to make sure all the beans are properly seasoned with all the ingredients.
  3. Bake the beans: Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until tender and lightly browned. Check on the beans half way through and toss them around if needed.
